Get a letter for an organ transplant

Use this service if you’re a British person and you need a letter for an organ transplant.

British high commissions in India will:

  • stamp and sign Form 21 from the hospital
  • write on Form 21 that they cannot verify your relationship to the donor or recipient
  • write on Form 21 that they cannot certify documents
  • give you a stamped and signed letter confirming they cannot issue a no objection to organ donation certificate

British high commissions in India cannot:

  • give you a no objection to organ donation certificate
  • certify a copy of your passport – you should find a local notary to do this

Download and print a letter explaining that notarial services are not available in India. Give this to the hospital with the other documents.

Check with the hospital that they will accept these documents before applying for an organ transplant letter.

You’ll need to bring the original Form 21 to an appointment at the British high commission.

It’s your responsibility to make sure you’re using the correct service and that the relevant authority will accept your document.
